It's a Wrap on Mapillary Bike-Mapping
I'm finishing up my Mapillary biking-mapping project. For the last 20 months, I've been riding on every street around me with a GoPro (360 degree camera) on my bike helmet. The blue lines on these maps show my path of travel.
At this point, I've covered more than 3500 miles over 220 rides and captured about 830k 3D images. I've really enjoyed exploring and seeing so many beautiful areas of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. The remote hilly areas are especially beautiful, but also quite challenging. Another benefit has been discovering some excellent bakeries and coffee shops while I'm getting more daily exercise.
My street-view recordings go to Mapillary.com and are available publicly, and are often used by researchers to improve road/bike safety and to create all kinds of open-source maps.
