did someone say WEDDING??

I don’t know when this thought struck me...but at some point in the recent past...not the immediate past (a day or two?) or the near past (assuming the near past is anywhere from a week to a year or two) I thought to myself ‘what sort of rings would Laura Glue and Edmund have for their wedding? My immediate thought concerning this idea was ‘oh! Oh! What if Edmund still having the skills of a Silversmith (which he does right? Or did he just pick up blacksmithing from Madoc?)...what if he made their rings? Because of course they’d be Silver right? Probably have some fancy runes of some sort of importance added in by...Poe or someone? Whether they have any actual function outside Aesthetics I’m not sure. They’d have significance surely...but I’m not sure if ....wait. I think I have it? I was wondering at some point what sort of jewels the rings would have...or if they’d just be simple bands with runes. But...the silver made my Edmund...so Laura Glue would have a hand in making them somehow? I debated on what sort of gems would work. Diamonds are boring...the inlay should hold some significance. Like how when you make a class ring you tend to choose your birth stone or some such. I admittedly don’t know what Edmund and Laura Glue’s birth stones are (come to think of it...what are their birthdays?)...so what stones are Important in the series. There’s ruby..like the Ruby Armor of Tai Shen... Perhaps some kind of Indigo Gemstone? But then two things just hit me at this moment. One of two things. Either an Inlay (Inlet?) of Cavorite...or...I don’t know...Pearls made of Pixie Dust? Could that be a thing that happens? Would it be possible? Would it result in flight?Or maybe Thimbles are involved? All I know is I’m pretty sure Edmund would make the rings...what part would be created by Laura Glue...I’m not sure. So I’ve gone on and on about Crossovers with CotIG (mainly of the Universal Shenanigans variety), but I don’t think I’ve given as much consideration (or any really) to AUs. There’s the amazing College AUs ( three sorts I think. The Modern College one...the other Modern College one which may just be the earlier one but in the future (with Rose, Laura Glue,? Etc. as students), and of course the ever fun Gatherum College au (My Time at Tamerlane). So....I began wondering earlier today how’d the ‘cliche’(?) ‘Coffee Shop au’ would Work concerning CotIG. Given my understanding of those things used for Ships (to the best of my knowledge) the question would be which? John and Edith? Aven and Nemo? Map Glue? Or hell maybe even PoiZen (Beatrice Rappicini and Aristophanes (Steve)...and yes you may throw tomatoes for such a silly name. After that, assuming it’s a Coffee Shop au focused on a ship (which may double as a hang out for a certain Literary Group in this au) there’d be the question of position...who are the regulars? Who are the Staff...what other Businesses are there ( A publishers next door, one or two fancy Houses down the street, a Flowershop with a P.I business in the upstairs apartment...etc.) Basically how do characters fit...like for example...say we take Map Glue as an example. Perhaps focusing on Laura working part time at this Coffee shop with her friend Rose...the Shop owned by....I don’t know...Merlin maybe? Verne? Bert? Who’d own the damn thing...? Who among CotIG characters seems like they’d run a Coffee Shop? Maybe Tumuller.) and....I don’t know how Edmund would fit in. Still would be Map making and stuff...may know Rose to some degree through Merlin...hm..now I’m wondering how to fit in everyone’s favorite Inklings...can’t forget them... My apologies. Forgive these ponderous ramblings of a amateur Chronographer... if anyone has any thoughts share if you wish. These are mere ponderings, and are likely to remain so. I don’t know why I’ve given as much thought as presented here to a Coffee Shop au. I don’t even like Coffee. Hot Cocoa is a much better drink. Make of this what you will. Perhaps my best contribution to the CotIG fandom (aside from the several posts pondering Tamerlane House and its Enigmatic Master, or that whole chronology of the Caretakers thing) was thinking up a silly ship name for Laura Glue x Edmund McGee. The idea was Map Glue, but I’ve thought of something shorter, and possibly just as silly. I present... GluEd. You may now applaud, sigh, groan, head desk, face palm what have you. Would it be held at Tamerlane House, or would they have it in the Underneath? Or Parlon was the ceremony mentioned at all in the last book( I mean The First Dragon. Not THE Last Book) I know Edmund said he proposed, and she said yes, but what else? Who’d take over decorating? Would Archie be the Best Man? Now that I think about it....assuming Edmund is Protestant, but Laura Glue .....I forget....who’d officiate? I think Andersen was a Minister for a bit at one point. There’d be great entertainment I’m sure, dancing (with new compositions by Schubert. Don’t know where they’d get an Orchestra though). Shakespeare putting on a short play echoing the Rude Mechanical’s performance for Theseus and Hippolyta (maybe or maybe not Pyramus a Thisbe). I’m sure it’d be a wonderful event. Ending of course with Laura Glue flying away (because of course she’d be in her Valkyrie uniform) Bridal Carrying Edmund to a nice little Boat and they have a nice time. Following Swift’s advice making their own Island for a Treasure Hunt (because really, wouldn’t a treasure hunt be a great honeymoon?) Likely some point in the future Rose is a Godmother. Make of this what you will. Add what details you’d like ( I know next to nothing about weddings. Went to one once, but that’s neither here nor there).

Which would be more likely to get drunk on the honeymoon and be the one who tries to destroy their marriage certificate so the other ‘would be unable to return them without the receipt’? I’m leaning toward Laura Glue...but I’m not sure which is more likely. Either is hilarious frankly. And of course Rose would be the one asking about said honeymoon in the meme template thing. Alternatively I realize this might also work really well with Beatrice and Steve (especially because flowers and stuff), but also possibly Weena and Bert (again, because flowers).
