tbh tho i usually don’t write too far ahead of what’s posted because i like keeping my ideas more open ended (even if it shoots me in the foot sometimes) if you saw my drafts and notes you’d probably be horrified tbh. and the longest series i have was still under 20 chapters.

i have had a lot of one shots turn into 3-5 part series tho

Hemlo 🏅! Omfg it's a struggle right?! I hate editing. I'll add, subtract, or change an entire chapter and then rinse and repeat the next one. Also, you keep your drafts? May I ask what you use to write? I just use google docs, but if there's a more efficient app I'm totes down to try it. What's your favorite way to write? With an outline and a vague idea of how you want the overall story to go, or just winging it? Or a combination?

Tooo be fair, the only reason why I have gotten ahead was because I spent a goodly amount of time in the hospital with a lot of free time. Now that I'm not in the hospital, I'm like "writing? uhhh... mayhaps.."

Oh well hey there's up to chapter 11 I think posted? I have 12 and 13 written I just need to edit them. Also you ever write something and think "this will be like 5 chapters max". And then it ISN'T?! I can't find a stopping point bc I can't get to the part I wanna get to without like... 5 more chapters of build up because reasons that I don't even know. Send halp. I'd rather read instead.

Well thank you again :3 but yeah no Anons before now I don't think unless it was from several years ago. This account was like... 95% for reading and reblogging fanfiction and 5% reblogging Fandom memes. I don't think until I started writing there was any reason for an Anon to ask me anything? Tbh I barely know how to use the app, since I'm kwispy and old (apparently Millennials are old now. Gasp. Oh wait no, my knees definitely knew), I usually use Facebook instead.

But even since I started writing recently, no Anons have ever reached out. This is pretty nice actually :3.

hi anon do you know that this message made my week 😭 thank you so much for such a thoughtful and detailed ask, it was amazing seeing you pick up on so many of the nuances I put in the relationships and dialogue. ALSO the fact that you see this as both a love story and a horror story all at once makes me BEYOND HAPPY because it's exactly what I aimed to do and I wasn't sure if I could pull it off!!! the "Greek tragedy" comment too 🥺 I love that you know that the tragic, foregone conclusion is their relationship - with the way the narration is going I wasn't sure if the tragedy aspect would be clear so I'm thrilled at your commentary 😭

most of all I'm happy to hear that you're becoming interested in dark content!!!! I know the genre gets a really bad rap but unironically writing in this space feels like a literary sandbox because you have an audience for really transgressive narratives... I think it's not a coincidence that a lot of best executions I've seen in fanfic are among dark content writers.
