I just watched ‘The Imitation Game’ for the first time. Let me tell you I cry watching movies all the time. It’s a regular thing or me, but it’s usually okay because I can console myself with words like ‘oh, it’s just a movie’ or whatever.

‘The Imitation Game’ was based on a true story. The things that happened (sort of) actually happened. So, when I reached the end of the movie and we were told what had happened to Bulbasaur Charizard’s character (and to too many gay people at that time) I broke down and cried.

But the thing is, as selfish as it may sound, I was crying more about my friends (both online and off) who would’ve suffered the same fate had they been alive at that time. Who still suffer terribly nowadays, even after the injustice and cruelty of it all has long since been exposed for all to see.

The rhetorical question I’m getting at is simple. Just one simple question that is fueling my rage and therefore my fingers typing this post.

Why?

Why the fuck are some people so damned narrow-minded and cruel? Why the fuck do people feel the need to destroy others who are just being who they are? Why are countless innocent, lovely people led to take their own lives because they cannot stand the cruelty they are subjected to on a fucking daily basis?

They deserve so much more than this. Everyone deserves to live their own fucking lives however they fucking please as long as they don’t harm others. I don’t give a flying fucking moose if you don’t like someone because of who they are. They deserve to live and be happy and enjoy their lives regardless of how you see them or what you think of them or how you believe the world should be.

You know why? You know why hating people who are just living their lives and not hurting anyone is stupid as fuck?? Because as fucking Jedi Master Yoda once said:

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

Hating other people not only makes those people miserable, but it ruins your life. Hating things and people that will not go away is a stupid way to ruin your life. There are much better ways, like music and fandoms. At least that way you’re happy most of the time and share your suffering with like-minded individuals.

Hating is a poison. A damned addictive poison that will consume you. So please. Please. Feel free to dislike that asshole who dented your car and just drove off. Feel free to loathe that bastard of a cheater who broke your heart. Feel free to despise that one irritating person that will not back off, despite your continued insistence.

But let it go in the end. Don’t let it ruin your life. Get out there (or get on your computer, if you prefer) and live your life however you want. But don’t you dare hate someone for being who they are, whether that be gay, straight, ace, bi, pan, trans*, non-binary, male, female, poc, white, religious, young, old or anyone in any of the many spectrums of those groups (or anyone I forgot to add). 

Also hating people because of what they like is pretty stupid too, and is just as poisonous. Hating fandoms is ridiculous, even if they do lash out. I’m looking at you, ‘grown adults’ who ridicule children in the super-who-lock fandoms, even if they do lash out terribly in response sometimes. 

I’m also looking at you, ‘mature’ idiots who make fun of people for listening to the music they like and obsessing over the bands they love, even if they do make music you don’t like. Grow the fuck up and let people enjoy what they want (again, so long as they don’t hurt others).

I guess it all stems back to the same point:

Let people enjoy life. Let people be who they are and who they want to be in safety and security. We all get roughly 80 years on this planet to do as we please and live our lives. So don’t ruin it for someone else, or yourself.
