Famous Patient | Steve & Sharon
Sharon tapped her hand nervously against her thigh. She'd only been waiting on Steve for about thirty minutes to pick her up, but that was too long. She knew that sometimes things happened to keep you away, but it just didn't seem likely for him to be late for something like this. Especially after he had spent almost every moment since her rescue with her at the hospital. Somehow, she doubted that he'd be late for this. And she still had to tell him that Ward had paid a visit to her room, something she knew he wouldn't like. But she wasn't going to keep something like that from him. So once they had gotten back to her apartment, she planned on telling him everything. Of course, he had to actually show up for that to happen.
She sat in a wheelchair in the lobby, completely embarrassed that they had forced her to sit in it to transport her to the first floor. But there was nothing she could do except listen to the gossip the women behind the counter seemed to be so focused on and wait. It didn't take long for a nurse to come down to speak with them.
"Did you hear about our famous patient on the third floor?" she said in a thoroughly excited tone. Before the woman could even respond, she continued. "Captain America."
The woman continued talking about him, but Sharon didn't hear anything else. She pushed herself out of the chair and dashed towards the elevators, ignoring the protests of the people she pushed out of her way. Her mind raced with the possibilities of what would be horrible enough to land Steve in the hospital. She kept thinking of the worst possible explanations and attempted to force herself to think of anything else. But the second the elevator dinged, she all but ran to the nurse's station to ask where he was. However, a look down the hallway showed a room with two SHIELD agents standing guard outside.
She walked more slowly down that hallway, barely greeting the men standing there. Obviously they recognized her because they opened the door without her even asking. She took a few steps forward into the room watching the man that somehow stolen her heart. She didn't want to see the bruises and cuts and hear the machines beeping. There was a chair by his bed that she sat down in before taking his hand, very similar to what he had done a few days before for hers. "What the hell happened, Steve?"
