Have you ever been hesitant to share your real thoughts and opinions with people? I sometimes feel that way, not because of I’m afraid of the reaction I might get but rather that it seems like a waste of my time and energy. - If someone asks for my opinion about something concrete I’m happy to share my thoughts. Just don’t expect a simple sound bite. We’re either going to talk about it properly or not at all. I want to put my energy into the most productive people and activities. - I do believe it’s important to express myself honestly. The more I do that the better things seem to go for me. They say that’s the best way to attract the people and circumstances that are good for you into your life. - It applies to my musical life as well. I thought about releasing new songs under a different name/persona/project because stylistically they are different to what I’ve done before. But that would be dishonest. The truth is that all the different types of music; punk, indie, folk, jazz, synth etc. come from the same person. Why should I try to hide that? What makes me think that I need to squeeze myself into a box? Wouldn’t that just attract the wrong people to my music? - The same goes for other areas in life I suppose. If you remove all your rough edges, who do you attract into your life? Better to display yourself as you really are and filter for the right kinds of people and opportunities. - And the sooner we do that, the sooner we can can connect with the right people and avoid people that aren’t living truthful to themselves.
