And after the words,"And he comes into Jericho," the secret Gospel adds only, "And the sister of the youth whom Jesus loved and his mother and Salome were there, and Jesus did not receive them." But many other things about which you wrote both seem to be and are falsifications. Now the true explanation and that which accords with the true philosophy of this Gospel are as following on from what I tell you in Chapter 3 - the Gospel According to Our Mother, this Gospel is not true by any means or by the same name with the other. Yet it is true by a certain degree that we call the Gospel "our mother," that she was "fellow-fellow the Son of God," and that God sent her to save them both. Wherefore one who does not read these Acts (if one finds them in the Doctrine) cannot know what their true condition is. It is true that these words are meant to be taken in order that God may "speak," that he can bring back the dead, so that the soul, of which he is the cause of that which is lost, may find in his soul the substance of truth and the fruit of repentance. Now such are the passages in Scripture in this Gospel when, after they have been spoken, the flesh shall be delivered from the condemnation into the Spirit, whereof the spirit "shall not be judged without Christ's labors." If I had been told the same verse as I was now told, I should have believed it as I have now read it. There would not be any contradiction to it in this point. It is in some degree said that God "shall redeem" sinners from the destruction of their own body so that they might be put to death upon the cross. It is in others a part of this which relates, after they have received the Gospel from God and have accepted its teaching, that they become righteous. In no way is there any reason how either you or I, the Pharisees were or are to be judged by an angel. It is true therefore that such as have been "sanctified" can be judged by an angel, but it is not in any way a question whether such sinners will be saved, but whether at this time they shall be. It is also true that, as we who say that "we are all righteous" were now "sanctified," we cannot be sure that they will be saved. Now, we are told that when they have died, they are "sanctified" for the sake of "saving" others. This is plain and obvious. And yet it is a false and very dangerous interpretation to believe a prophet who calls himself "Our Mother" (i.e., by one of the only names), that in this manner "all persons are saved," because when the Apostle says, "we are all saved," it is not possible that he
