More thoughts about Dahye and Minhye's incest (and relationship in general
Imagine growing up with a very strict dad with incredibly exacting standards who was always comparing you to your sister. Your perfect, beautiful, kind older sister, who is always willing to make time for you. Whenever dad's words were too harsh, you could go to your older sister who would comfort you and reassure you that you were fine just the way you are. You were always close with her, but as you go through middle school, your feelings for her begin to change.
As you start to come to grips with your feelings for her, she leaves. She abandons you to suffer under your father's undivided expectations. You do your best, but its never enough, and the person who you relied upon to help you deal with this is gone. Dahye is no longer seeing her sister as something to aspire to, but a shadow to escape from.
years pass, and your struggle to be your own person continues. Its hard going, but you've made progress. You've made some friends, have picked up smoking, and established yourself as the most popular and powerful girl you know. From who you spend time with, to what you do for fun, you are finally starting to make decisions for yourself. Then, you suffer dual misfortunes.
First, Baek Yeonhwa begins to blackmail you. Suddenly, you aren't allowed to behave at school the way you want to. Then, your sister decides to return home and makes a joke about the situation with Yeonhwa, assuming you could never fall into such a scenario and that nothing had changed since she left. She abandoned you and had the gall to act like it wasn't the cruelest thing anyone has done to you.
She then meets your friends, who are all immediately taken with her, with one even developing a crush (who wouldn't?), much to your chagrin. Yeonhwa threatens you with exposure, telling you you can't smoke anymore. These two women have come into your life, taking and taking.
Time passes, and Yeonhwa continues to take and take and take. Your money, your pride, your friendships, your grades, your body, nothing is safe. It gets so bad that your father decides you need a tutor, with your sister taking pity on you, deciding to be that tutor herself. You don't want this but you have no choice, which makes it all the worse.
Your sister keeps trying to push herself back into your life, telling you that she never wanted what happened to happen, and she hadn't thought about what would happen to you, and she is sorry.
You confide in her about your situation with Yeonhwa, and she says the most wonderful thing you've ever heard her say
She is letting you call the shots. She believes that you are just as capable and smart as she is. You, the girl who had always been chasing her shadow. She was going to trust you to lead. Suddenly, things seem more manageable. This is the recognition of your abilities you have been craving.
Pt 2 will be coming hopefully soon, I wanted one big post for this but unfortunately Tumblr will only allow me 10 pictures and I find the visual aids to be necessary.
