The story of Them's Fightin Herds' development will always be my favorite.
Starting out as a free to play MLP fighting game that gave all 6 characters distinct fighting styles before Hasbro came down with the Cease and Desist (I remember that day. It was shortly after the Fluttershy trailer came out ;u;). Years later they come up with the original idea of "Them's Fightin Herds", basically making the game theyve made their own property. The characters all kept the same movesets as their MLP counterparts too which was really neat! It was their idea in the first place.
Not only that but making characters that are like the Main Six only on a surface level as an extra middle finger to Hasbro. Each character has their own backstory that sets them apart from just being called the Knock-off Main Six. That'd be an insult. You might as well just make the comparison that every shy character are copies of Fluttershy.
It takes a lot of determination to pick yourself up after being thrown down by a large company but these small guys did it. What an admirable feat! Ive been following this thing ever since Fighting Is Magic was first released and Im so glad that Ive been able to follow and back what its become now.
Maybe something good did come from that C&D.
