#mama rant

So I’m adopting this child and I cant quit thinking about this awful hate group I joined on Facebook claiming “advocacy” for these adoptees who’ve had horrible stories & i learned that they feel adoption is unnecessary, evil, traumatic and for the wrong reasons.. that the state or gov shouldn’t have any right to take someone else’s kid and these sucky/struggling parents just need more resources. AND that’s a whole big conversation there but as I near adoption day, I get to read records of all of the court files and reports and sessions during this case & this child most definitely would not thrive or possibly even survive if he were with his bio family. I get to help him break all of these decades of generational curses. It literally can stop with him because he was able to get out. & early before he was exposed to all of the harmful things that come with his parents lifestyles. I dont know how somebody can look at this situation and think that what we’re doing is NOT in the best interest of the child

I just read an article about a celebrity who dressed their little boy as a pilot for Halloween and his outfit was wonderful but people I the comment section started in on how his 'outfit was made for girls', 'fitted for a girl', and some were outraged at how 'celebrities are making their sons look like girls' now I'm so annoyed that people still have this perception of children dressing according to their gender. But what also annoyed me was how one person mentioned how it was 'daddy's role to tell mummy that his son needs to be a boy'. 😐 I have two beautiful children and they wear whatever they want. I don't believe it's my role nor their absent fathers role to tell them who or what they are. I don't think it's society's role to put a label on who anyone is. That's the whole point of life, is them finding out who they are and telling everyone else that. I don't deliberately buy clothes from the 'boys' section and claim exclusivity for my son to wear them, nor do I buy Disney Princess dresses and demand that only my daughter wear them. I try to be as easy going as I can be, and I try not to make an issue and stress to them the importance of their gender. I believe as a parent it's more about stressing the importance of good character as a person. They share a wardrobe and are the same size in shoes so right now things are easy. We do get some comments from people who comment on how beautiful my daughters are, but their awe suddenly turns to confusion and often disgust when I explain that one of those 'daughters' is my son, he just has long hair and chooses to wear a dress some days. I'm of the opinion that as a parent the most valuable thing you can pass on to your child is that you love and adore them. I think that knowing who they are and being comfortable with who they are is paramount. At the end of it all, who they are, who they grow up to be... I'm their mama, and I'll love them always. Ugh some people!
