Karliin spent her childhood years in the North Baffin communities of Arctic Bay and Pond Inlet where she became strongly grounded in her Inuktitut language and culture. Karliin is a young mother who is committed to passing on her first language, Inuktitut and culture to her daughter. She enjoys learning Inuit traditional concepts and values and incorporating them into contemporary living. Her interests have brought her experience in journalism, broadcasting, film, and design which she continues to enjoy. Karliin also manages and operates Malikkaat Ltd. a boutique specializing in Inuit traditional and contemporary tools along with crafts, carvings, jewelry and garments all authentic to the people of the arctic.
