"Ginger tea with honey," Malcolm offered. "Should help with the nausea."

Margaret took the offered cup. It was funny in a way, her first pregnancy had been easier than this. 

"Is there anything else I can get you?" Malcolm asked, always so gentle despite towering over most people.

For a moment Margaret wanted to tell him everything: about Lord Raith, about Thomas, about what she tried to do, and what she almost became. What their child might become. But her mistakes were not his mistakes and she would not burden him with them.

He was a good man and deserved better than anything she could offer.

Instead she asked, "can you stay with me?"

Malcolm sat on the couch next to her, carefully curling around her, making room for her pregnant belly.
