Setting up for rehearsal! I'm the Musical Director for the performance 🎼🎶🎸🎺🎹🎻🎵🎤 A Zubir Said Tribute (Singapore) Zubir Said is best known as the composer of the Singapore National Anthem, Majulah Singapura. But his career as a composer stretches back to the 1940s when he became a music composer for the film production companies, Shaw Brothers and Cathay Keris. Despite his lack of formal music education, the prolific songwriter wrote at least 1,500 songs comprising film songs, popular songs and national songs. Join our ensemble of musicians, who have come together specially for these performances to celebrate Pak Zubir’s 110th birth anniversary and 30th death anniversary. Hear popular favourites like Semoga Bahagia, Sayang di Sayang and Selamat Hari Raya, as well as lesser-known film songs spanning his prolific career. The ensemble of some of Singapore’s best-known young musicians is led by Malaysian guitarist Az Samad, who has also arranged many of the songs on this programme specially for these performances.
