This blue gown, overlaid with appliqué birds, was designed by Bill Thomas for the 1953 film 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒓, where it was worn by Piper Laurie as Angelique Dureau. This highly stylized gown was intended to evoke the look of a Southern belle for 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒓, though its glamorized details are heavily influenced by 1950s fashion. A few years later, in 1957, the costume was reused in 𝑻𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒓, where Mala Powers wore it as Barbara Bissell.
