When Makoto’s girlfriend had begged him to take her topractice with him, it hadn’t even crossed his mind that she might embarrass him,but here he was having just heard her call him “Mamakoto” in front of his team.

Rei raised an eyebrow.

“Mamakoto?”

Nagisa burst into laughter, and Makoto’s face was slowlydeepening in shade of red.

“Why is your nickname Mamakoto?”

By now, Makoto’s girlfriend was blushing as well, but stilltried to defend his honour.

“Well, Makoto’s always the one taking care of the team, andsince he pretty much acts like a mum to anyone around him, I call him Mamakotoas a joke.” She laughed awkwardly.

“Well,” said Haru, in his usual monotone, “When you thinkabout it, it makes sense. Makoto does seem like the team’s mum.”

Nagisa was almost on the floor laughing, but he quicklycalmed down after some prompting from Rei. Makoto’s face was now at its maximumredness, and his girlfriend looked at him sheepishly.

“I think we should go now.” He put an arm around her andwalked her out of the building.

As Makotowoke up, his blurry vision settled on the being next to him, (Name). He tooktheir hair in his hands and twirled it around his finger, smiling at howattractive they were. Gradually, (Name) opened their eyes, and sighed contentedlywhen they realised that Makoto was running his hands through their hair. Theymoved closer to him, taking in his warmth. Makoto wrapped an arm around theirwaist, and kissed the top of their head gently. With the hand that wasn’twrapped around (Name)’s waist, he took their hand in his, intertwining theirfingers.

“Goodmorning.”

“Morning.”

They laythere for a while, as Makoto rubbed circled into (Name)’s back with his hand,and (Name) listened to his heartbeat.

“We shouldget up soon.”

“Nah, I’mgood like this.”

Makotokissed (Name)’s hand lightly.

“Me too.”

“I love you.”

As Makotostepped into his girlfriend’s apartment, he wobbled a little.

“You didn’ttell me that haunted house would be so scary!”

She noticedhe was shaking slightly, so she stepped up to hug him, her head on his chest.

“I’m sorry,Makoto, I had no idea you got scared so easily.”

She took hishand in hers and ran her thumb over the back of his hand.

“Go and siton the sofa. I’ll get you some ice cream.” She said, getting on her tiptoes tokiss his nose. He giggled and blushed, then turning to sit on the sofa asinstructed.

When Makoto’sgirlfriend returned, she handed him a tub of ice cream, and sat on the sofabeside him. He put him arm around her, and she placed her head on his shoulder.Makoto’s fingers played lightly with the ends of her hair, and she sighedcontentedly. She turned her head slightly to look up at her boyfriend.

“Better thana haunted house?”

“Definitely,”He said, resting his head on top of his girlfriend’s and closing his eyes,taking in the peacefulness of the moment. He reached to grab her hand, andintertwined their fingers.

“I love you,”He whispered gently in her ear, kissing her hand.
