I think I have a habit of liking songs with a grim-ish atmosphere to them. Is that bad?
Anyhow, I think I remember posting this up awhile ago, but I'm not too sure, so I'm just gonna post it up again. This is a track from an online flash game called 'Gretel and Hansel 2,' - the series is by Makopudding on Newgrounds. It's a darker version of the fairytale, but he's built a larger world for it - the game hasn't even quite touched on the iconic candy-house, and there's still loads to see. In any case, this track is kind of an 'overworld' theme - Gretel and Hansel are wandering these enchanted woods, and not quite in a good way. They're lost, but Gretel is trying to hold a plan together, toing and froing between areas and remembering not to pet that bear that tore her arm off a couple of deaths ago.
What I like about this track is a feeling of open space (as acoustic guitars/plucking strings tend to do) in the daytime, and yet there's a definite sense of foreboding. Though both the rhythm and melody are quite repetitive, the last thirty or so seconds of the track kind of launch into an uncertain air. Not sure why, I just like the tone it ends on.
