I sometimes headcanon that Eri is the type of person to work herself too hard when no one is around to remind her to take care of herself.  Like maybe in Elementary and Middle school, she was constantly ending up like Honoka at the end of season 1 (working herself to exhaustion and passing out).  Her sister was always worrying about her and maybe the reason she failed her ballet auditions was because she was never resting and eating enough beforehand.  Even amazing dancers fail if they arent properly taking care of themselves. 

Nozomi is so necessary to Eri’s life that she would become a total wreck if Nozomi stopped supporting her.  She might start slipping back into old patterns unconsciously, forgetting to eat lunch because she spent the whole period working, or staying in the office really late and then just sleeping there because it got too dark out and she didnt want to walk home by herself.  

So when I see stuff with Nozomi paired with someone else (the most popular are NozoNico and NozoMaki), I’m always thinking, ‘what would happen to Eri now?’ cause Nozomi would focus her attention on her new girlfriend, and Eri would just act normal, like ‘I’m fine if you leave before me.’ and then just keep working.  Nozomi wouldn’t even realize that anything was different, because Eri would act the same way she always does and convince everyone that she’s fine.  

In a NozoNico situation:

Maki would totally notice something going on.  She’s perceptive enough and knowledgeable enough to notice the little signs of stress and fatigue that Eri wouldn’t be able to hide.  One day she finally becomes so irritated with the situation that she just intrudes on Eri’s life and starts rearranging it.  She’s really gruff about the whole thing because she’s tsundere and has a hard time showing her concern, and she’s annoyed at the whole thing to begin with.  Like, at first, at lunch she will just come right in, sit down, shove a bento in Eri‘s direction and tell her to eat it, and in the evenings, she’ll show up right at sundown and force Eri to walk home with her.  Over time, she really loosens up tho, and will scold Eri if she tries to do paperwork instead of talk with her during lunch, and maybe she would occasionally show up a little early in the evenings to help with the work and then the two of them would go out somewhere before going home. 

“Why are you doing this?”  “I’m planning to replace Nozomi in your life...and in your heart.  That’s all.”

In a NozoMaki situation:

Nico would be the last to notice, outside of NozoMaki themselves (maybe Maki would notice, but she wouldn’t say anything).  The others would be concerned after awhile, but they wouldn’t know what do in this situation.  Nico finally realizes something is up when Eri passes out from exhaustion the first time.  Maybe they were getting together for the first time in awhile and just having a good chat when it happens.  Nico freaks out and cancels all her plans to accompany Eri to the hospital.  Its from the doctors that Nico finds out that Eri hasnt been taking care of herself.  Afterwards, Nico uses all of her persuasive powers to convince Eri to move in with her, so the she can look after her properly.  Nico goes full on motherhen, but Eri can’t really protest, because she knows that Nico is just worried about her.  Eventually, Eri gets better and starts to enjoy being spoiled by Nico a little.
