Some of you asked about the egg tempera palette I was using in my last post. Well here goes: I made it from scratch out of wood, glass, and stainless steel sauce cups I bought on amazon. I sandwiched 2 pieces of plywood together - the bottom layer is flat, the top layer cut so as to create the negative recessed shape in which the glass would eventually go. I then drilled the holes for the sauce cups, evenly spaced. Once the glass was dropped in I caulked the edges to prevent leaking and to hold it in place. The bottom is cradled using 1”x4” to provide a platform and stability for vigorous use. • It’s tough to find an egg tempera palette this size that met my needs. I wanted something with a bigger mixing surface and deep paint wells for larger scale pieces. I sealed the exposed wood with a few layers of polyurethane to make it water resistant. It works great for any water-based media and it’s not that difficult to make. #artistdiy #custompalette #makeotyourown
