UPDATE: In order to "hide" that empty space, simply don't place anything in the following modules: Content Top, Content Bottom, & Sidebar.
I was wondering how to change the background color of that white space that you see above the copyright module and below the footer.
First, I could not figure out what module that could be. In the process of trying to figure this out, I found out that there is a module not listed in the gantry website, the "fullwidth" position. And that is right below the footer, but it's still not that white empty space.
Second, the gantry website lists "mainbody" as a module but its not present in the module manager. Although, I found some answers for how to make a module that wasn't the solution to changing the background on that empty white space.
Okey, this is what I did to avoid that empty white space:
I moved the "mainbody" to the "fullwidth" and then the white empty space failed to appear, I only assume it was the mainbody that was causing it, yet I try to alter the mainbody's class: rt-container in the style.less file but nothing happens.
NOTE: I was able to adjust the background of what the mainbody contained, which is the "content top", "content bottom", and "sidebar" modules.Â
On another note, I recently found out that there is another css file similar to the one found in gantry's css-compiled folder.. It literally overrides every other css file in the gantry framework. Its located in the following place:
yoursite..../templates/gantry/less/style.less
I think from now on I'll be working on this css file to alter and customize the look of the site.
FINAL NOTE:
The css "style.less" file does not contain any parameters for the "fullwidth" module, I had to add this div class to the style.less file, as follows:
#rt-fullwidth {BACKGROUND-COLOR:RED;}
 UPDATE: I should be altering both css files.. i.e. style.less and templates/gantry/css-compiled/master-459e2
