Eh, it’s okay. It’s a lot of dreading school and fighting writer’s block. How’s you’re day been?

 Akabane Karma (Male s/o)

He wouldn’t think too much of his flirty crush’s comments. Even if they do get him at least a tiny bit flustered. 

Karma got used to his very flirtatious remarks pretty quickly as he knows, deep down, that they don’t have any intention of trying to use their sweetened words to hook up with him. Only in his wildest dreams. 

Of course, being Karma Akabane, he would join his crush’s game and flirt back but with an actual intention of getting closer to him. He’s subtle that way.

Karma isn’t surprised when the other students in class start asking if they were a couple due to their very couple-y conversations and banter. 

He secretly hopes that his crush would see that he likes them like that and not just as a close friend. He would never tell anyone though. He does have a reputation to uphold after all. 

Although, there are times when his crush’s oblivious flirting does make an impact on Karma. Sometimes he’ll forget that his crush doesn’t realize he’s flirting and if he’s talking to someone else, Karma’s jealousy will spike a bit. 

A big thing that got Karma’s attention on him is that his crush used his oblivious flirtation as a way to distract Koro-sensei with gossip while unknown to him, Maehara and Isogai managed to take a few shots at their teacher. 

It’s something he’ll get over quickly by rationalizing it but if he were to ever achieve his goal of a relationship, it’ll probably have to be one of the first things he talks to him about. 

Occasionally, Karma will try and bring up his crush’s flirtatious words to said human but it’s quite a tightrope of a topic since, he doesn’t know how his crush will react. He’ll probably end up turning it into a joke just to play off his crush on him. 

Asano Gakushu (Male s/o)

Much like Karma, he isn’t too bother by his crush’s flirty words. He’s used to keeping a straight face under the watchful eyes of his peers. His father wouldn’t want him to get distracted by a lover.

He would pay a bit more attention to them over his countless other fans and wouldn’t just brush him off like one of the crowd members. 

Asano might even take some time to engage in a friendly banter with his crush. Slipping in a few flirty lines himself. 

He would also try and find his crush and bring him to hangout with him and the other virtuosos. It’s quite a cheap way to get his crush to notice him but it works nonetheless.

Asano isn’t the best when it comes to interpersonal relationships so he doesn’t quite know how to flirt back without making it look too desperate or too forward. 

It doesn’t help that even though the other virtuosos are in relationships, they could hardly be considered good. Most of the time, their partners are just in it to get good grades as opposed to their actual personality. 

He would try hard to learn more about the art of wooing another human while he keeps tabs on his crush. He wouldn’t want anyone else to steal them away from him, nonetheless, that red-headed devil from 3-E. 

Another way Asano would get his crush’s attention would be to assist them in studying to pass their tests. It would also be a good opportunity for some one on one interactions so he could attempt to flirt back. Theses are very beneficial to his own self-study of the human emotions.

Cleveland Clinic Florida Solves Family's Medical Mystery

A dream vacation in Jamaica in February, 2012 turned nightmarish for Boston residents Sylvia and Mitchell Haber and their family when Sylvia fell seriously ill within a few days of their arrival on the island.

The couple at first suspected mild food poisoning but became increasingly alarmed as Sylvia’s health rapidly deteriorated. A succession of medical treatments proved unsuccessful. Within a week, doctors in Jamaica said she was so gravely ill that they could not help her. Fearing that he would lose his wife, Mitchell, an executive with a large Web-hosting company, contacted his employer for help.

After determining the best hospital to provide the acute care needed, Mitchell’s employer arranged for Sylvia’s airlift to Cleveland Clinic Florida’s main campus in Weston on February 29, seven days after their trip began. She arrived in septic shock with multiple organ failure, her chances of survival slim.

“Had it not been for the incredible team of doctors and ICU nurses at Cleveland Clinic Florida, I would not have survived.”

Twice during her first few days at Cleveland Clinic, Sylvia went into cardiac arrest, and then she developed profuse bleeding in her lungs. Attending ICU physician and pulmonologists knew that her situation was dire. Doctors requested Mitchell’s permission to try an experimental approach: injecting a coagulant called factor VII into her lungs. The treatment was not yet approved for this purpose by the FDA.

Ten minutes after the medication was administered, Mitchell heard a cheer from the room. “The doctor came back smiling and saying, ‘We stopped it. She’s stabilized,’” he recalls. “From that point on, every single day, there was improvement. Her recovery accelerated faster than they anticipated. A week later, she was eating, sitting up and talking. The doctors were stunned that she recuperated as quickly as she did. They were calling her the miracle patient.”

Medical tests showed that she had a severe reaction to medication she received in Jamaica. The original cause of her illness remains unknown. Today, Sylvia is recovering at home and taking care of her children. In gratitude, she started a personal fundraising page to support work at Cleveland Clinic Florida.

A breast cancer diagnosis is a life-changing event

Encouraging Words From a Survivor

A breast cancer diagnosis is a life-changing event. Just ask Stephanie Spiesz. The now 50-year-old North Ridgeville wife and mother of four was diagnosed in November 2013. Fully recovered and cancer- free today, Stephanie says her diagnosis turned her life 180 degrees — in a good way!

She knew she had lumps in her left breast, but wasn’t concerned. Her husband felt differently and encouraged her to see her doctor. Fortunately, she did. Within days she had a checkup, followed by a mammogram and then a biopsy, the results of which showed breast cancer.

Stephanie was referred to the Breast Center at Cleveland Clinic Strongsville Family Health and Surgery Center for follow-up care. There, she met with her multidisciplinary breast cancer team of physicians, including breast surgeon Stephanie Valente DO; radiation oncologist Andrew Vassil MD; and medical oncologist Drew Abramovich, MD.

Her surgery, a double mastectomy at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, was the only part of her treatment not provided in Strongsville. “The morning of my surgery was one of those bitter cold days, when weather people were saying not to go out. But my entire care team showed up, and the surgery was as smooth as could be. In less than 24 hours, I was discharged,” says Stephanie.

“Before my diagnosis, no one ever told me to rest. Once I was sick, everyone told me to rest, and I eventually listened.”

Within weeks of surgery, Stephanie began chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy, both of which she could conveniently complete at Strongsville.

Always very active, working as a property manager for family-owned buildings and spending time with her kids, a typical day for Stephanie was nonstop from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. But once she started chemotherapy, she had to take it easy.

“I had to slow down,” she says. “Before my diagnosis, no one ever told me to rest. Once I was sick, everyone told me to rest, and I eventually listened. We sold our properties, and now my life is much simpler.”

Looking back, Stephanie feels her breast cancer diagnosis changed her life in only positive ways. And she wants to offer advice and hope to others going through a difficult diagnosis and treatment.
