So my friend just told me about a nifty browser extension called Mailvelope, which works with popular e-mail providers (like Gmail) and encrypts your e-mails using the relatively simple method described in this YouTube video. However, this method makes it hard for third parties to decode your e-mail should those messages be intercepted.
And we know the NSA is indeed intercepting people's e-mails. So why not do your best to keep your private communications private? The method isn't completely failsafe (it's a PGP, or "pretty good privacy", technique), but it can't hurt.
And if you're encryption ignorant like I am, the video helps explain how this works!
Web Base Email Encryption: Mailvelope vs SecureGmail
My first blog in Security Bazinga. It is about email encryption a comparison of 2 browser plugin that works great. Read and let me know how is it :)

> "Letters sealed with sealing wax as in a painting by Cornelis Norbertus Gysbrechts are quite rare today. > But also the normal letter has, since the rise of the Internet, lost its predominance for written communication. What we use today are mails. And the vast amount of them are send without "envelope". Like a modern form of a picture post card. > There are good reasons to see a value in private communication. And there is also the encryption technology available for everybody. Probably the main reason why encrypted mails have not gained more ground is the simple fact of convenience. Here Mailvelope wants to make a contribution and offers a solution for users of Webmail providers."
