Mailcat was once a guardian of a royal family in East Asia that perished during a World War-scale conflict that ended not very long ago (it was the infighting that did them in). After the war, a unicorn returning home from the front stumbled upon him and offered him a job as a mailman mailcat in his hometown across the continent.

Since it’s in mailcat’s nature to guard  and protect, the unicorn tasked him to guard every letter and parcel in his possession until it is delivered.

So after spending thousands of years at the palace gates, mailcat finally stepped out into the world...
