Maien (pronounced “may-en”) FC - Josh Castille
Maien is a slave who was born hearing, but was burned as a young child and is now deaf. He is able to verbalize some, but mostly communicates using sign language, writing, or using a cell phone to type.
As a young boy, Maien was given to a cruel Master who eventually tried to kill him after he helped save the life of another slave.
Like Asche, Maien is very timid and he craves affection. Knowing that he is vulnerable due to his disability, Maien strives to remain constantly aware of his surroundings.
Random fact: Maien is not the name he was given at birth. When asked his name, Maien prefers to verbalize it rather than spell it. When he says his name, it sounds like “Maien”. If ordered, Maien will fingerspell his name, but he prefers to be referred to by the name he is capable of verbalizing. Verse dependent, Maien is capable of speaking.
