The Maiden Project It's not often that you meet your childhood hero 20 years later, and problem even rarer to be more inspired than ever. Obviously I had to get the obligatory photo for mum. At school, in the days before internet, my favoured revision procrastination technique was to read the yachting books in the school Library. It was here that I read Tracys story and saw the pictures of Whitbread boats on the southern ocean. I never imagined that I too would sail in huge waves and experience the oppressive darkness of such oceans! An emotional picture in her talk was of #Maiden retuning to Southampton after finishing second in the Whitbred. During clipper we experienced crowds of thousands in Da Nang, Qingdao and London, but to see hundreds of boats joining Maiden as she returned with her spinnaker flying made me proud of all British yachtsman. Tracy has a new project rejuvenating Maiden and going forward to inspire another generation of women through supporting education. Good luck...I'll be following the @maidenproject #MaidenFactor #tracyedwards #LCSC #ClipperRace #sailing #hero
