“ wow, you look like shit today. ”
✚✚✚ kid — @magnetiicus
Insipid and disappointing, that’s what Law thought of Kid’s jibe. It appeared that someone was losing their spunk, a possibility Law dreaded more than cheered. There was undeniable, though impossible to confess, entertainment in keeping an appointed rival to outwit. It stimulated the mind; acted as a prophylactic activity that kept dementia away. As a doctor, it was only befitting that Law should take an interest in his own health and avoid mental illness. It was bad news for his intellectual performance if Kid’s very own brain was retiring.
It would have been kinder to ignore the insult and silently allow Kid one more try, see if he could come up with something better. But as doing so would be opening up a precedent to future demonstrations of goodwill, Law had no remedy but to be disagreeable as always, lest he harm the perfect relationship he and Kid had built on hostility. The status quo ought to be preserved.
Sadly, Law imagined, Kid would be flattering himself for his latest shot, pitiable but true all the same, thinking himself the superior mind. Feeling that big boy pride and adrenaline for saying a curse word with no adult nearby to administer a reprehension. He really was as childish as his name suggested.
For the sake of his brilliant, cunning, articulate mind, Law made a challenge of it. Instead of giving Kid the obvious middle finger in return, why not outmanoeuvre the bastard by using his own words against him in witty retaliation? No form of squabbling could be higher.
He started off in sincere accordance, fully aware of the air today’s lack of personal grooming and the former night’s sleep deprivation gave him.
❝ A horrible predicament to be in. How do you fare looking like shit every day, Eustass? It must be tiring. ❞
