#magick jacket

The two pride flag patches were ironed-on and then sewn with the good shashiko thread to the back of the shoulders on the magick jacket.  Left shoulder is the demisexual pride flag and right shoulder is the genderfluid pride flag.

I’d had this large patch which I got at the Anarchist Book Fair at the end of November pinned in place on the jacket for a bit, and with day after day of heavy rain happening now, I’ve been doing some of those piled up sewing projects.

Here is the new patch, pinned into position on the magick jacket to check placement and size. This is on the left side of the jacket, wrapping my ribs. The fabric is lined up right at the edge of where a pocket seam is located, and the other vertical edge exactly touches the round patch over my kidney on the back. A tight fit, but I still think I can sew it on as I was planning, with a heavier sashiko stitch through a folded edge. I can’t decide if I want to stitch in black (more invisible) or white (design element).

I just did a great barter whereby I get a custom patch made for my magick jacket (design shown here), and a human who needs a binder gets one I have which didn’t quite work for me (half style rolls up my torso).  The patch will be embroidered.  The design is a not-very-often-seen symbol variation for Lapis Philosophorum, the Philosopher’s Stone.

My latest addition to the magick jacket is an embroidered patch reading “What survived may not be kind, but it’s me” from illustrator Amrit Brar.  I added it to the right sleeve.
