b/ruce w/ayne/b/atman is such an enigma to me? granted, i don't read a ton of DC, so my primary exposure to b/atman is through the movies. but even then, i've struggled to find the core idea/motivation for the character that really unlocks him for me.
god same but mostly like... you can tell so much by how a lot of these “family” arcs are so fucked up
i don’t get a sense that b/ruce really loves j/ason, or really anyone else in the family outside of d/amian? like i’m sUPPOSED to know he does, but all the shit he’s been written to pull at the expense of his kids??? bad take man
j/ason in n52: gets poisoned by joker b/ruce: takes him to the manor and takes care of him and hugs him and says he forgives him
j/ason in rebirth: “kills” cobblepot in an elaborate scheme to flush out an international cartel b/ruce: beats the absolute shit out of him and exiles him from gotham and then it’s never brought up ever again, he gets into Trouble and his family shows up to bail him out of the J/oker war because they’re ~~~family~~~

Which, by the way, it’s past motherfucking Halloween, they missed their window of opportunity, and—” Jason kicks a rusty pipe out of frustration, pitching it clear down the tunnel. “—I’d very much like to take a goddamn shower sometime this century.”
  With that tantrum out of the way, Jason breathes in deeply (immediately regretting it), and unholsters both of his pistols. “I’m just gonna shoot them until they stop coming, and them I’m gonna shoot them some more.”
