In connection with my last post, I figured I'd give a couple details about my original idea to see if anyone's interested in reading it.
It's set in a magical-steampunk sort of world, not quite modern but with certain technology that functions off magic rather than electricity or steam or nuclear or anything like that. So cars are a thing! But not cellphones, sorry.
Instead of humans, the world is populated by animal/human hybrids (still coming up with a name for the species) all separated by type of animal, like canines and felines and birds etc, with subspecies in each one. Basically base human with animal ears, tails, teeth, claws, legs and wings depending on species, with hair and eye colors depending on particular subspecies. I've always liked the idea of humanity's baser instincts being 'amplified' or shown with animal characteristics, though I'm still on the fence about the entire alpha/beta/omega dynamic...
I already have the primary characters all mapped out, five in total, though I'm still figuring out how many secondary characters I want to have as 'regulars'. Even then, there's two 'main' characters, Penny (a fennec fox hybrid) and Laila (a snow leopard hybrid), who meet and begrudgingly work together to catch a murderer while accidentally making friends and ending up liking each other.
(While the first story is more of a murder-mystery vibe, there's political intrigue, espionage, magical quests, and overarching plots that make the series more of an adventure series in my opinion)
So, that's the basics so far! Would you guys want to read anything like this?
