Importance of Dumbo
My favorite Disney movie as a child was Dumbo. Through PDD-NOS I didn't learn to talk for a long time and even then felt I was different than other children. I forgot about how much I loved that movie until I watched it again as an adult. Dumbo never speaks and feels awkward in his body. It takes him awhile to learn that the other circus folk aren't laughing with him but at him. I'm so grateful for my parents never gave up on me and they were able to give me my "magic feather" that bridged me from being low functioning to high functioning. It feels good to be the ninth wonder of the world.
