The simmering brew of red and yellow in the distance told me the day was beginning.
My body was quite chilly and the soles of my feet were numb and painless.
My daily walk of reflection had ended for that day and so had the darkness of the night as the bubbling sky proclaimed.
My eyes, stained red, started collapsing with exhaustion, but I couldn't sleep.
With sleep comes nightmares.
So I looked at the sky one more time before entering the backdoor of my brick shelter.
Inside was much warmer. I had left a candle burning, several actually, and all of them were seeping over and creating wax . It looked like a creation of Vincent Van Gogh and I reached toward my ears feeling the ear buds in them.
I had almost dismissed the humming rhythm of music gushing through my headphones and turned off the relaxing instrumental Indie beat.
I then turned towards my room and grabbed my rain boots.
Time for another sleepless adventure......
By the time I got to the docks, the sun was glowing steadily and the temperature had climaxed to a high 32 degrees. Still the pool of water in front of me failed to freeze and seal the barriers between death and life. A sad thing really. Hiding from the truth is not very truthful.
But still I gently wafted my way into the canoe and soon the waves drifted off to sleep and all was calm.
This opportunity gave me a minute to cry. To cry a lot. To cry until my eyes stained red.
And I would had cried more....
If I wouldn't have saw you.
You reminded me of a cat. Scheming a plan. Pacing back and forth.
It looked like you were waiting. Waiting to jump into the pool of liquid.
The pool of cactus shaped algae.
The pool of shady swamp trees.
But then I stopped rowing and focused my eyes on to yours.
That word echoed through my ears
Just as the brisk draft of wind did.
The words stuck inside of me, unlike the person in front of me.
That person went with the wind and fell into the unfrozen lake.
The simmering brew of red and yellow in the distance told me the day was beginning.
