A Lead... Finally
Three weeks had passed since the Western Commons bombing, three weeks had passed since the wanted poster bearing a familiar name and description had reached Magister LaCoria at her family’s small home in Ebonhawke. With leads on her father’s sword being few and far between, she had opted to track down the wanted woman, ‘Mae’, in search of answers of why the Faceless had destroyed her home in Garenhoff nearly a year prior.
Over the three weeks, her luck in leads had mirrored that of the sword, often leaving her irritable to the point of violence. As much as she loved Minthe before, she found herself loving her more every day since their wedding. Her Sylvari bride was proving not only to be a means to reign in her more reckless tendencies, but was a source of comfort and calm after day after unsuccessful day.
One month, she had given herself one month to track down either Mae or the sword. If nothing happened in that time, she would talk to Minthe about returning to the Priory, or heading home to Garenhoff. As the third week rolled to a close, she grumbled audibly as she walked through Rurikton towards the Asura Gate.
“I’m tellin’ ya the truth lad,” she heard a sailor saying to what could only be one of his fellow shipmates as they strode towards the Maiden’s Whisper to spend their hard earned coin on drink, food, and perhaps a good night’s company. “It was that lass they say blew up part ‘o the Reach. Saw ‘er clear as day ‘eadin towards the lighthouse.”
“Yer just seein things mate,” his friend bellowed in a loud, deep voice with a firm smack on the back. “Ya just think ya saw ‘er ‘cause that wanted poster’s been below deck fer two weeks. First Sylvari lass ya see an she coulda been twice as far away and you’d still think it was ‘er face.”
“I’m tellin’ ya mate!” The first sailor said desperately, “It was ‘er, I ain’t goin’ ta mistake a lovely little thing like that.”
“If ya say so. Why don’t we see how yer story sounds in a few drinks?”
Alexandria had stopped dead in her tracks as the two men continued on past her. It wasn’t much of a lead, in fact, the sailor’s friend was more than likely right. After all, not seeing a woman for weeks on end save for a picture could mess with your perceptions. On the other hand, it would make sense that she had fled out towards the Arch. With the construction finished on the city, it was twice as busy as it had ever been before, meaning twice as many people to hide among.
It wasn’t much, but it was a lead. Grabbing her communicator from her belt, she hit the orange switch. “Minthe darling? I’m heading to Lion’s Arch, I think I might have been looking in the wrong place this whole time.”
