"Do I?" Charles asked, arching an eyebrow. "Raven always says I look ridiculous." His sister didn't really appreciate his clothes, always saying it made him look older.
It was a surprise that Erik didn't think the same way as Raven. "--Well, thank you, Erik."
[Nightmare meme] "Charles, shhh. It's okay. I'm here," Erik murmured, arms winding cautiously around the man who'd been his friend, adversary, and more. "It was only a dream..." Though he understood all too well how real dreams could seem.

Over the years, his nightmares had only gained more things to feed off of. First it was his childhood. Then it was Cuba. Then it was Vietnam. Then it was spending his life fighting Erik, then it was losing mutants to crime. Sometimes when he'd slept, if they were close enough, a conscience would slip into his own head and he'd live out a persons final moments. His defenses were always more difficult to maintain in sleep.
It was that last one that happened now, a poor soul on the edge of town. Charles couldn't help the hiccup of a cry that followed. All they'd done, all he tried to do, and still he couldn't help them all... He never could.
The feel of familiar arms around him provided comfort, but Charles shook his head. " Oh Erik... I wish that's all it was..." he breathed into the older man's shoulder.
