Imagine after all this (Athena and Eddie's shooting, plus whatever else is gonna happen next episode) there's just this scene with Buck sitting in some waiting room while Eddie's in surgery and then Maddie shows up and sits down next to him, and obviously she knows better than to ask if he's okay so she doesn't.
then after a few more seconds of them not talking Buck just looks at her and says: "remember when you said it wouldn't be so crazy?"
And then credits....... me and my sick brain will take our leave now *tips hat and falls down stairs*
