Interesting thought I had regarding Messer’s unexpected appearance in the SRWY Expansion PV;

What if this isn’t actually indicating that Messer will be brought back or can be otherwise saved, but instead that the various new attacks won’t actually be restricted to the new post-game content, and can be acquired during a normal playthrough? Ergo; the Messer-Hayate team-attack is simply unlocked not long after the Macross Delta team joins and is something simply available up to the point of Messer’s death.

Notably this would make a lot more sense for a few of the team attacks we see in the trailer, most notably Raideen’s and Combattler V’s new ‘Choudenji God Strike’ attack, which I have to imagine would be all too narratively appropriate to unlock for the final blow against Emperor Baaro in-story. Particularly if having also fulfilled the requirement for saving Reiko via Garuda’s heroic sacrifice.

I know few fans outside of Japan liked or even watched the *Macross Delta* series, and it’s a shame that people who now have the chance to watch various entries in the saga—like *7* or *Frontier*—on Hulu don't give *Delta* a chance, even though it turns ten this year.
