these are macro eye images I took in class yesterday. Â the first image is my contact sheets of eye images rated 4 and 5 on Adobe Bridge. Â the remaining six are of my favourite. Â when in adobe bridge I edited and optimised images that were the best of the ones I shot on the day. Â to try and get the best of the colours I used mainly the contrast, clarity, dehaze and saturation tools. Â I also tried to define the pupils more by enhancing the blacks.
EVALUATION - as you can see the project theme was eyes. I came up with this idea initially as a result of the portrait images I had done in class. on looking at my images I found myself to be fascinated by the sitters eyes. I then researched photographers that specialized in the photography of eyes; such photographers include Mogan Andrei a Romanian artist, he started off taking images of his friends eyes and received requests from admirers after they had been seen online. I was influenced by Mogan photography in that the amount of detail of the eye he captured and this is what I was aiming for too. I found this style of photography interesting and fun not realising how indepth an eye can be with all its layers and different colours. what also made it interesting were the subtle differences between a sitters left eye and right eye. taking the images was more fun rather than the optimising, however, using the tools in adobe bridge to enhance the colour and texture of the eyes was exciting. the technique of focusing was a challenge (which I overcame) as the focus has to be on the button to get the best clarity of the eye. although I overcame the challenge of getting the focusing right, it is something I would like to perfect.   the most successful part of the project for me was achieving the desired effect I was after; detail, colour and texture of the eye. as the camera was facing down and was clamped onto a big heavy stand, this sometimes proved to be difficult when maneuvering the camera to get the eye in shot. once I knew how to maneuver the stand safely and felt confident doing to so, this then enabled me to get the shots I desired. if I were to do this project again I would take more time with both preparation and taking images f the eyes. I feel that some of my images would look better if they were more in focus and the sharpness was apparent. I also feel that there is too much light hitting off the eye. the last 2 images are of mind maps; eyes and bugs (insects). capturing close up detail of insects would be interesting; the intricate patterns on the body, the vibrant colours that insects have and again close up of eyes. as you can see from the last image this is a macro shot of an insect sitting on a flower. it is not quite as close up to the insect as I would like, however I like the detail of the flower and the water droplets. this image was took with a 100ml lens, I did not use a monopod as I felt that this got in the way. I also did not use extra lighting as enough light was coming through the glass roof at Kibble Palace.
