Loom updates: Millville has the muted color gamp from @janestaffordtextiles online guild. I got tired of the constant color changes (2nd pic) so I decided to change up the pattern a bit. Weft is light gray with natural for border stripes. 24” Macomber has a few more repeats on the Summer & Winter towel. 32” Macomber has Friendship Towels; current weft is a speckled blue that looks very denim-ish. 40” Macomber is getting a new warp - 10/2 cotton. It’s a bit linty and grabby, so it’s goong on slowly as I try to free up stuck threads without breaking any. And I just recently got an apron for the Reed Cambridge loom. Road trip! We took a drive today to the home of #macomberlooms in York, Maine! First photo is the building; next 2 are the office area & stairway, then inside the workshop. Last pic are the parts I brought home to refurbish the 24” Macomber. Eddie was quite personable, and answered lots of questions for me. The Warp Bubble weaving studio is just about finished. I did return to the studio after dinner. I spun for a bit (attempting #spin15aday, this time with the new EEW 6.0; lovely blue batts from @the1764shepherdess), finished threading, and started tying on before I ran out of steam. 3rd pic is the #millvilleloom as it is now - almost ready for our test run. Harnesses are balanced and, I think, set at the right height (for counterbalance looms, I read that the heddle eyes are supposed to be about level with the front beam). I might have to tweak the treadles when I start. I think there may be a spring or some other connection missing at the front cloth beam handle, but I have no way of knowing without pics or documentation from another Millville loom, and they appear to be few & far between. This came home today - 32” 4H Macomber B5 (this will eventually be expanded to 10 harnesses). Price and condition were too good to pass up! It came with 2 reeds, lots and lots of heddles, and a bench! This one is much younger than my other 2 - made in 1986. The wood is so light compared to the others, too! I now have a full set - 24”, 32” and 40”. (I don’t want to go any wider.) March 1st inventory - Concentric Squares towels on the Big Mac - about halfway through towel 6 of 11+. 8” into 52” of black tencel twill on the #heartsandbonesscarf on the Voyageur table loom. About 95% done with AVL loom assembly (waiting on a part I ordered). A finish! Well, almost. Baby blanket in goose eye twill, done on my Macomber loom. Hems done, I’d like to run it through the wash one more time before sending it on to its new home. The basement is no longer too hot or humid to visit my looms.
