Macbeth (1948)
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.
MACBETH (1948) dir. Orson Welles
The Thirty-One Witches of Halloween, Day 23: The Witches from "Macbeth."
Oh to have the confidence of someone who's never watched a full black and white movie telling me that what I say is strong use of light and shadow in Raging Bull and the 1948 Macbeth is just bad lighting.

I think the Welles Macbeth sits at the third spot on my ranking of Macbeth films (just below Throne of Blood and the 2015) film, but mostly that's just a matter of personal taste re performances (Sean Harris remains the Macduff par excellence imo). And damn, Orson Welles really was great with a camera, aye? Some incredible transitions within shots, and brilliant use of light and shadow.
