The Bits Don’t Fit.... (any more)
The SNP is barely holding it together. Its a splintered cabal which, when brought up on stoking hate and quick-fire snide comments instead of reasoned debate or civil ‘agree-to-disagree’ politics, is finding it hard to contain all the internal cleavages.
The main internal mantra right now is “don’t blow it - we almost have it..!” Or “Wheesht for Indy” as Kenny MacAskill called it. But that is a feeble entreaty among former friends when each of the many sides believes they are the only reason separatism is where it is - and the other side(s) are the only block to realizing the dream.
Splits are on indyref2 timing and practicalities, the Catalan Approach (effectively UDA) or not, more militant steps at disrupting the UK, the value of being publicly so close to the EU, transgenderism, Currency details (whether to bother with them or not), the scramble for MSP seats and control of the lists, Murrell (and Sturgeon) operating a closed circle, etc. etc. etc....
Even for such a rigorously disciplined grouping as the SNP has previously been - the distaste among senior gougers for each other is now out in the open. Salmondites, like Cherry, are on the internal warpath over treatment of their hero - the fat man - and over perceived retaliation by the Couple-Cabal (Murrell-Sturgeon) for their loyalties to past and not current leadership.
‘Past’ figures, like East Lothian’s almost invisible MP Kenny MacAskill, continue to lob grenades over the Murrell’s back wall with now such predictable regularity that they are anticipated and cause no injuries - but a lot of resentment.
Murrell-Cherry-Hates-Sturgeon-Hates-Salmond-Hates-Robertson-Hates-Macaskill-Hates-Sturgeon- etc. etc.
Couple-Cabal Sturgeon/Murrell clearly hate Salmond - and that is fully and resentfully reciprocated. But Cherry also hates the Couple-Cabal as does Tasmina Dried Grape. Not forgetting Michelle Thompson or Nat-A-Lie McGarry, in fact all current and former members of the Salmond Harem - except for Sturgeon herself - seem now to be distant from Mrs & Mr In Charge.
So personalities, plans, procedures and policies are all pulling the SNatsis apart (despite a show of Wheesht for Indy unity).
The job of the opposition parties and groups is to leverage that discontent with policy attacks and alternatives - in a coordinated way.
Coordination and much greater cooperation, among disparate groups that really might not like each other, is possible - just look at the SNatsis..!
Might I suggest we all start to whisper:
‘Mon the Union’..!
