Bless the Beasts and Children (1971). A group of social misfits at a summer camp for boys run away to save penned-in buffaloes from a rifle club's slaughter.
Coming of age stories are generally my jam, and in that regard, this one isnβt bad. It explores the difficult positions of a group of boys struggling to find identity and purpose in the early 1970s. Unfortunately though, the relationships between those boys never quite feel developed enough to resonate, and the tragic ending feels almost more parody than drama as a result. 6/10.
