The books I read this November, plus some pictures from my Saturday jog.
Now that I’m through editing, “Of Dragon Warrens and Other Traps, ” I’ve had time to begin chipping away at my tbr stack. This month I got through: “The Girl with the Golden Bouffant,” by Mabel Maney “Giant Days,” by Non Pratt “Hallowed Murder, ” by Ellen Hart
Pratt’s adaptation of the Giant Days graphic novels was a complete delight. It made me want to pull the comics back out. She truly captured the essence of Susan, Esther, and Daisy. It would be very cool if they wrote another.
Maney is such a fun author to read. This is the second book of her Jane Bond series. I’ll admit, I liked the first book better BUT I will definitely be checking out her Nancy Clue series next. I love the way she weaves multiple storylines together.
Hart… well. I think I’m just not a Thriller girl. I like my mysteries Cozy. It also didn’t help that it was very of its time when it came to social issues. Still, the author’s voice was great, and I could see why this series became an award winning one.
It was so… satisfying to get through these books. Sometimes, when I’m bogged done with my own series, I forget how wonderful it is to sink into someone else’s. I also found three new lovely words: nadir, exegesis, and ascetic. See if you catch them in my next few books. 🤣
What are some new words you all have learned recently?
