It wasn’t uncommon for the twins to leave the Mystery Shack after dark, sometimes staying late after working a short shift and talking to Soos. Despite that Dipper was such a skeptic, he was also intrigued by the woods at night and the mysteries they held. You never knew what you’d stumble upon in Destiny Isle after all. Tonight proved just that as the twins left the shack and a mysterious green portal magically appeared nearby. Dipper stopped in his tracks, putting his arm in front of his sister to stop her as well since she seemed to be distracted by their previous conversation. “Mabel, are you seeing this?!” He quickly interrupted her, staying put with wide eyes as he watched someone emerge from the portal. It disappeared as soon as the person stepped out of it, someone who appeared to be close to their age and carrying a backpack and …. a gun of some sort? Dipper didn’t move his arm away from the front of Mabel, feeling protective despite his curiosity.
Morty stepped through the portal for what felt like the millionth time, having been searching for a new home after running away from his home dimension. He was tired and hungry and slightly frustrated, struggling to find a universe that was somewhat normal and not full of danger and chaos. He’d seen some wild things along his journey, and he was ready for some peace and some rest. This time, as he stepped into this new universe he was met with somewhat normalcy, familiarity almost. He didn’t think he’d ever been here before, but it was the closest to his home dimension that he’d seen since leaving. Morty locked eyes with the two strangers in front of him, awkwardly raising the hand that didn't carry the portal gun to wave hello and show that he meant no harm. “Uhhh …. Hi, I’m Morty,” he began, feeling like an alien by the way the male was staring at him. “Can you tell me where exactly I am? I-I’m just looking for a place to stay..”
