When Jim provokes him he's got his hands around his throat and is squeezing the life out of him, and there's no familiar voice to anchor him, to hold him back, so he just keeps squeezing--and Jim can feel the life leaving him and the only way he can think to fight back it project images in his mind of what Spock Prime showed him, hoping that this Spock will sense it through his touch telepathy--and he does; he is so surprised, suddenly understanding everything: the motivation, the other Spock, the friendship they shared in another universe...and then suddenly all the memories go black and he comes back to reality and looks down and he's still got his hands around Jim's neck, but he's not struggling anymore, his eyes are wide open and blank, bright blue and still like a undisturbed lake. And he looks into the unseeing eyes of the best friend he would have ever had, dead, by his own hands.
