I had such a good ride with this boy today!

I set out to rule out ulcers and saddle fit for the new random bucking. But he didn’t buck at all today, in either the saddle or the bareback pad, and I tried two different cinches. He was very calm today.

We worked on transitions while free-lunging. I guess his old trainer never did lope-trot or trot-walk transitions, because when you go to ‘slow’ him down, he thinks he’s supposed to stop.

I actually rode a little bit. I was still quite nervous, but I need not have been. And he did so well and is actually getting the hang of it, it wasn’t a constant struggle for forward momentum. We worked on walking, turning, and halting, and even got some jogging in.
