Key West Express
If you follow this blog, you know that I’ve been working on developing my videography and editing skills. I was in Key West, FL last week for a couple of days. To get there, I took the Key West Express ferry service from Ft Myers Beach to Key West. I shot some footage while I was on the ferry and then cut it together into a short 4 minute video. You can see the video on YouTube by clicking on the photo above.
I shot all of this footage handheld using an iPhone 8 Plus with the native iOS camera app. I then moved the footage onto my iPad and edited it there using LumaFusion. In the final product, I wanted to try some of the recently added features in LumaFusion. I used the new ChromaKey feature to create the opening title (which is also the basis for the photo above). I also wanted to experiment with color grading and, in particular, I thought this footage would work nicely with an “orange and teal” color grade. I used the VisionColor M31 LUT to create this look and I think it works quite well on this footage.
One of my objectives is to learn to create videos using only iOS tools. I think it’s starting to become a reality. Next task....become more proficient at using the FilmicPro app on the iPhone. Stay tuned.
