BMW M2 Competition- FIRST IMPRESSIONS Having spent 3 months with the @cooperbmwcolchester DCT equipped M2 Comp, getting into my own, new M2 Comp was a familiar experience. Both cars were even finished in the Sunset Orange with similar specs. Except, there are three main differences. My car is manual, supports the M Performance brakes and features the M Performance 763M wheels. What are my first impressions? Immediately, it feels great to be connected to the car in a more intimate way via the manual box. Thereβs something satisfying about rowing your own gears and having more control over the clutch. The other noticeable difference is the gearing of the two boxes. The DCT is a 7-speed vs the 6-speed of the manual. This variance in gearing lends itself much better to lower speed corners. With the DCT car, I found 2nd Gear was too low and 3rd too high for lower speed, tighter bends. 2nd in the manual is far better suited, utilising the increased low down torque available from the S55 engine.
