“you mortals are all so adorable. pathetic, of course. but adorable.”

“so, look who’s out of the cage.” he should probably show some respect, but then, that’s not really his calling card. there’s also the fact that even if he pisses off the devil, pride is a concept, and can’t really be extinguished. “how’s that working out for you?”

“you’re cute.” it’s not exactly a normal greeting, but he calls it like he sees it, and beauty recognizes beauty. “i mean, not as cute as me, naturally, but you’ve got it going.” crosses his arms, leans against a wall, head canted as he considers her. “you look important too. a little...” hand waves in the girl’s general direction. “blah. really gotta ditch that school girl look. i’m thinking... pantsuit.” that’s pride, throwing out wardrobe advice to strangers. he lives to help.

“oh great,” he exclaims, nose crinkling. “a hunter.” really, a self-righteous lot, and that’s something coming from pride himself. but hunters are more obnoxious than the demon underlings he has to deal with -- and they never stop to hear him out, always shoot, stab, imma kill you demon! for real, he’s not a demon. but do they ever stop to ask? no. of course not. “sorry, i’m not here right now, leave a message.”

“witches always make me feel dirty,” the sin hums, crinkling his nose. never mind that, generally, witches were considered to be on his side. persecuted for it and everything. fun stuff, wasn’t it? but tricky nonsense and he kept far from it. a couple of his siblings dealt with them more frequently. “you’re not the ‘ooo i’m gonna turn you into a froooog’ type, are you?”

“ah, my favorite pantheon. you know, you and your whole...” he makes a loose gesture, nose crinkling some. “whatever. you guys could keep me going for a few millennia, it’s kind of ridiculous. i appreciate it. i don’t say this a lot, but thanks. really. it’s wonderful.”

“you are exactly my brother’s color.”

“Ah, my old friend. Listen, I have a favor to ask. Wrath has been -- a little over-sensitive, if you understand. It’s his time of the month. Going on about inciting a new war or something. Wants to kill some people. You and I know it’s not their time, so a casual absence when he attempts would be brilliant.”
