His hands were firm on your hips with his face buried in the crook of your neck as you both swayed to the smooth tune of some random song from the 50s played from a CD his grandmother gave you two at your wedding shower.
Your arms were thrown over his broad shoulders, wrapping around him to keep him close. He pretty much worked from home so it wasn’t a matter of you didn’t see him often, it was more that you both were old souls who enjoyed these moments the most. You two had been married for 4 years. You had a daughter who just made 2 and she was just like her dad.
You let out a sigh of content, listening to him hum quietly to the songs that he had probably heard a million times from the time he was born to now. Being with him like this brought you back to the first time you had ever been close to him - which also happened to be the first time you danced with him. Your lips turned upward in a smile at the memory.
“What’re you smiling about?” came Shinsuke’s question as he lifted his head from the crook of your neck. He had a small smile on his face too - seeing you smile always made him smile.
“D’you remember the first time we danced, Shin?” You asked him, loosening your arms just enough to let him stand up straight.
“I do… Second year of high school, Aran told me it was a good idea for me to go comfort you since you were crying in a corner at the homecoming dance.” He recalled the events with a fond smile. “Guess I do have him to thank for how lucky I got, huh?” His chuckle resonated through the room.
“God don’t look so happy about finding me crying!” The light slap you gave his shoulder was playful - proved not only by your smile but also your tone.
“In my defense, if you hadn’t gotten stood up that night, you wouldn’t have met me and we wouldn’t have this beautiful life, now would we?” His words made your smile widen.
“Yeah… You got me there…” you hummed happily, moving your hands so they rested in his chest. You leaned in to give him a sweet kiss, showing him your love and appreciation for him. Slowly you both pulled away but kept your foreheads pressed together as you continued to dance - cherishing every moment you had together.
