âYour blade is an extension of your arm,â Matthias circled him slowly, his own spirit blade extended in front of him, âYouâll need to practice with it until it becomes natural to you.â Â One hand curled into a fist and tucked against the small of his back, the Warden retreated int an en garde position.
âYou used to using a staff, while it shoots magic, itâs essentially a two-handed polearm. Â Your reach with the blade is significantly shorter, so to compensate, youâre throwing much more force and energy into lunging at me,â he kept his stance loose, ready to spring into action at a momentâs notice, âThat does nothing except leave yourself exposed to a retaliation should I avoid your initial attack.â
âDo it again, but this time donât hurl yourself at me. Â Youâre not a trebuchet.â
Nelras nodded at the instruction, brow furrowed with concentration. His sword was an extension of his arm, albeit a heavy one. Hopefully practice would make it more comfortable to wield, second nature rather than thinking about every move.
The mage took a deep breath and prepared himself to attack, this time moving more fluidly than before. He slashed towards Matthias, careful not to put all of his energy into forward movement.
