Chapter 2: a brief look at Precia and Lynith
I’ve taken to calling Lynith “Fate’s cat-mom”.
Lynith was best cat-mom.
Ugh. People who are closest to Fate have a great need to show her physical affection.
In the scene before this one, Fate happily declares that she doesn't need friends when she has Lynith by her side. But in an earlier chapter, Lynith says that Fate and Arf know she can't stay. I think the reason for this that Fate is still really young here, and she still doesn't completely understand the concept of death. I think Lynith tried to explain that she would no longer with her after she finished tutoring them, but Fate probably interpreted this as Lynith won't be around as much.
And Lynith expresses her hope that Fate will make friends, because her time with Fate is coming to an end. Lynith knows she's going to die soon and there's nothing she can do about it. But poor little Fate doesn't understand that yet.
