hey i have some helpful bee info on honey!! so i'm not vegan, but its actually good for us to consume honey provided we try to find locally sourced organic and not mass produced companies. unlike many other industries related to producing goods from animals, bee keepers are generally putting the health and happiness of the bees above the honey produced because it is necessary for their survival. By promoting the use of honey we can actually save bees because it will bring awareness to ccd (pt.1)
[parts 2 &3] ccd is Colony Collapse Disorder (which you can look more into if you want but is basically the death of bees) beekeepers are responsible for monitoring the pesticide use on plants and the harmful parasites that could damage the plants the bees pollinate or hurt the bee itself. this monitoring helps keep the bees safe and happy and healthy which is exactly whats best for them. and towards the argument that bees need the honey- bees WAY over produce and any skilled bee keeper knows the balance needed to maintain the hive. also, people kill bees. we live in a society that has the initial reaction to kill bees when they find them nearby. Our best option is to replace these bees in a bee sanctuary where they wont be killed and have knowledgeable people planting an environment best suited for bees, so if a humane bee keeper takes just the excess honey to support the bees, whats wrong? (all of what i said depends on the beekeepers being a generally good dude to the bees btw)
